Galaxy S4 mini get Android 4.4 KitKat update

S4 mini owners in North America are starting to report that the Android 4.3 update is reaching their devices OTA. At the moment the update seems to be limited to Canadian networks Telus, Rogers and Bell Mobility. The update is also appearing on Galaxy S4's on the same Canadian networks with the addition of Fido. The worst problems reported so far seem to be a lot of complaints about battery drain and even some of bricking to no comments at all following ''I'm installing it now'' (which I'll interpret as nothing to complain about).

Many S4 owners seem wary of the update – which is probably wise considering the problems many S4 owners have had elsewhere – but those that have installed it successfully seem primarily annoyed with the shifting of the Data toggle and the new Knox feature which everyone is quickly coming to understand severely limits your ability to tinker with your S4. Galaxy Gear support doesn't seem to be exciting anyone as much as Samsung might have hoped.

We’re getting reports from Bell, Rogers and TELUS Samsung Galaxy S4 and S4 Mini owners that the upgrade to Android OS 4.3 Jelly Bean is now available to download.

The file size is about 790MB and below is the change log for the GS4:

• OS upgrade (Android 4.3)
• Added new feature (KNOX for consumer, etc)
• Compatibility with Galaxy Gear
• Improved performance (Graphics, Multimedia, Bluetooth, etc)
• Improved the user interface and stability
• User interface adjustment (Icon change, etc)
• Security Enhancements
