We have already covered the AOSP ROM port of the Ice Cream Sandwich for the Samsung Galaxy SII (S2) and now another very interesting news bursts through. Namely an official Ice Cream Sandwich beta port for the Galaxy S2 has been leaked to the Internet! Based on the reports of the stability and functioning feature-set of the ROM, it seems as a very early beta. Don’t’ confuse it with the official release of the ICS firmware from Samsung as it will likely happen next year in the firs quarter. But at least for one thing, it confirms that Samsung is actively working on the ICS port for the SGS II. As you can expect from a Samsung ROM TouchWiz is layered on top of the stock GUI so don’t expect the Galaxy Nexus launcher here or the pure stock look & feel. However, there is no doubt that it is an ICS firmware.
Note: Rooting, Jailbreaking or customizing your device can be risky, and you may end-up bricking your device! Follow the instructions posted here at your own responsibility as Inspired Geek will not be responsible for any damage to your device.
For now according to the currently known information all the basic stuff like calls, SMS, Internet works. But some stuff can be expected to be broken as some users are reporting a broken 3G. So don’t flash it if you intend to use it as your primary OS for daily usage. And of course, a root will be required for Samsung Galaxy SII to install this port.
All the Basics work like calling , sms , internet and more.
Some applications haven’t been worked out correct so they will force close on stress.
Because we are dealing with a “CUSTOM” ROM here it can occur that the phone will react very slow from time to time.
There is also the chance of some “RANDOM REBOOTS”
