    Root Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505 Using Odin and CF-Auto-Root [Step-by-step Guide]


    Here is one of the simplest methods to root the Samsung Galaxy S4 on the stock firmware using the CF-Auto-Root flashing using the Odin. Note that his method keeps the device as close to stock as possible while still rooting the device by installing the Super SU. Note that this method do not installs custom recovery although stock recovery is still installed by this method. Furthermore its very important to note that rooting guide is intended for the GT-I9505 variant of the Galaxy S4 (LTE version) and NOT for the international GT-I9500 Exynos Octa-core variant of Galaxy S4. Rooting procedure is very simple to follow so lets get started!

    Required Downloads

    - Download the ODIN file and then extract the .zip file.
    - Download the CF-Auto-Root. Then extract the tar file from the zip file that you downloaded from the source link using a WinZip or WinRAR etc.
    - If you do not have latest version of Samsung’s KIES installed, download and install it. Correct USB drivers must be installed, so that programs can communicate with the device. Reboot computer after KIES installation before proceeding with the installation.

    Procedure

    Step 1: Make sure that your device is in USB debugging mode: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging. 
    Step 2: Reboot your device into download mode. To do so: Turn the device off, then power it on again by pressing and holding VolumeDown + Home + Power simultaneously. It might ask you press a button the press the required button to enter the download mode.  
    Step 3: Start ODIN.

    Step 4: Connect the device to your computer using USB. 
    Step 5: Wait a few seconds, the ODIN screen will show that a device is now connected 
    - Make sure that in ODIN nothing is checked, except the "Auto reboot" and "F. Reset Time" checkboxes. 
    - Press the "PDA" (“AP” in newer Odin 3.09 version) button, and select the the extracted file CF-Auto-Root-….tar.md5 (from Required Downloads above). 
    - Press "Start". ODIN will now flash the kernel, and wait for the device to boot.
    - Afterwards you can remove the USB cable from your device.
    Step 6: After the device reboots you will have full Root access on your Galaxy S4!
